The currently postulated increase of performance of advanced mechatronic systems leads to an increased dynamic and complexity of their development process. The development Process cannot be managed anymore and thus it is not possible to make use of the whole capability of advanced mechatronic systems.The work in hand presents a framework for a self-optimizing development process of advanced mechatronic systems to solve this conflict. It adapts the paradigm of self-optimization to the planning, execution, monitoring, and control of the development process and makes it again manageable. The framework consists of three components. First it performs the theoretical transfer of the paradigm of self-optimization. Secondly it offers tools for the realization of a self-optimizing development process. The procedure model for initialization and postprocessing is the third component. It is used, to configure the framework for a specific development project.The framework is verified by the application example RailCab. The verification shows, that the framework completely satisfies all requirements.
