Abstract
Remanufacturing requires reliable assessment methods to evaluate the reuse potential of especially mechanically loaded components. Bolted joints are widely used in mechanical systems and play a critical role in assembly, disassembly, and remanufacturing processes. This study investigates the influence of preload, corrosion exposure on joint performance. Using M10 bolts, loosening torque and angle are measured after controlled tightening, salt spray corrosion, and reassembly with either reused or new bolts. Results show higher preload increases post-remanufacturing loosening torque and variability, while corrosion affects friction and torque distributions. Bolt replacement consistently improves torque retention. These experimental insights support data-driven remanufacturing decisions.
