TY - THES AB - Recent advancements in computational argumentation research led to debate technologies that broaden perspectives and foster critical thinking. However, challenges persist in generating relevant arguments, addressing user beliefs, and countering opposing viewpoints. This research addresses these challenges by proposing methods to identify discussion spaces, model audience beliefs, and generate effective counters. Empirical evidence supports the efficacy of these approaches. Overall, the study enhances debate technologies by improving engagement and effectiveness, ultimately positively impacting discourse and decision-making processes.
